Assess, Plan, Order and React – The Decisions are Yours!

Acclaimed developer Panther Games brings us to the bitter cold of Western Europe during the Winter of 1944 with Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge.  Although the Battle of the Bulge is ground that has been visited by wargamers before, it has never been done with this level of fidelity and historical accuracy.  The most advanced and realistic model of command decision-making implemented to date in a commercial wargame, combined with thorough historical research on the battlefields and forces involved in this campaign sets Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge apart from the competition.

Set during the hard fighting of the Battle of the Bulge, Command Ops lets gamers assess, plan, order and react at the operational level just like a real Corps, Division and Brigade commander. Hundreds of hours of gameplay await armchair generals who will be challenged to fight their way across 27 scenarios that stretch from the initial German surprise offensive to the powerful Allied counter-attack.

Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge also sports some of the most advanced and impressive AI ever devised in an operational-level wargame!  It is your choice whether to manage every detail of your army, or have the friendly AI manage the war on a lower level while you plan the larger scale maneuvers designed to make short work of your enemy.  Just as a historical commander, you can choose where you need to step in and when you need to stand back and let your subordinates do their jobs.

The enemy AI will use its skill to launch well-timed and coordinated strikes as it probes your lines for weakness while realistically reacting to your movements!  In addition, for the enthusiastic mod community awaiting Command Ops, powerful tools like MapMaker and ScenMaker allow for the creation of maps and scenarios further adding to already near limitless replayability.

Combined Arms: World War II Game Info(PC)

Written by igcompany on Monday, 23 January 2012 18:46.

Product Info

"Combined Arms: World War II™ " is a 1km hex-based battalion-level simulation of World War II combat that puts the wargamer in the role of the operational commander. Combined Arms: World War II™ uses actual minutes and hours to track time and coordinate orders. Tell your combat and support units when to jump off and how to coordinate their plans. Units exist within a military organization which Combined Arms: World War II understands. This allows cross-attachment of units and modeling of the strain on the staff of a particular command structure, depending on how much there is to manage and how many operations there are to plan and coordinate. Combat units are detailed with quality ratings, armor and infantry strengths, and movement types. Artillery is beautifully handled in Combined Arms: World War II, as are Air and Naval units. Artillery can be assigned to barrage for a certain amount of time, support a specific battle, be “on call” or assigned to counterbattery fire against enemy artillery in range. Air and Naval units can similarly support battles or attack enemy assets directly. Interdiction fire by these combat arms is fully modeled.

Features

  • Combined Arms: World War II sticks with what wargamers know by using hexes and unit counters. However, it uses actual minutes and hours to track time and attack plans may be organized based on arrival times for combat units and their support.
  • Replenishment of fuel, ammo and replacements is handled within the engine, as well as unit fatigue.
  • The fog of war is fully modeled with various levels of intelligence for enemy movement and troop concentrations, including false or misleading reports (possibly even on your own units).
  • Combat units are detailed with quality ratings, armor and infantry strengths, movement types and equipment. Artillery, Air and Naval units can support battles or attack enemy assets directly. Interdiction fire by these combat arms is fully modeled.
  • Detailed command structure allows cross-attachment of units and modeling of the strain on the staff depending on how much there is to manage, plan and coordinate.
  • Combat is modeled to include the effects of each of the units assigned, including the effects of artillery, airpower, long-range and short-range fire and the interactions between armor and infantry. Combined Arms: World War II avoids the simplicity of the straight CRT odds system while maintaining enough transparency to avoid mystifying players who want a system that is easy to understand.
  • Using modern high resolution graphics, Combined Arms: World War II is easy on the eyes and has an interface that is designed to convey the most important information at a glance.
  • Combined Arms: World War II includes a full score and sound effects to immerse the player.
  • Combined Arms: World War II incorporates a full scenario, unit and map editor, which allows the creation of free compatible scenarios by wargamers who own the game.
  • Combined Arms: World War II will support play against a computer opponent, against another human on the same machine or against one or more human opponents by single and multiplayer e-mail. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible to have fun by offering many different ways to find an opponent and many different methods of play.
