Gamescom took over Europe! Bigger than E3? Photos & more!

It's been a crazy day full of cosplay, game displaying and next-gen promotion!

The day itself

The day started early, at around 06:30 AM. With a disoriented and sleepy head I got out of bed, made some delicious morning fuel called 'coffee' and had breakfast. I was ready to go!
At about 7:30 PM two friends joined me and we drove towards Köln (Cologne) in Germany. A trip of about an hour and a quarter.
Upon entering Köln, I immediately noticed all the Gamescom promotion in the city. We then got to the Zoobrücke, which led to the Köln Messe, where the event took place. You could see that Sony did its best to promote the PlayStation 4, there were a lot of PlayStation flags all along the bridge, accompanied with many flags from different countries.

When we got to the Köln Messe, there were pretty long queues of people waiting to enter the Messe. Gladly it didn't take more than 10 minutes and we found ourselves in the Köln Messe! Here you could find information kiosks and ticket offices.
Since I had a press pass and my friends did not, I figured I had to be somewhere else to get my press badge. After a short kiosk visit I learned that I had to go to the press center which was around the corner. So I went outside and walked around the corner to find out that there were absolutely no queues or anything like that. I went inside and found out that this 'press area' was probably the most comfortable area in the entire Messe! Really the best area to do your job, away from all the heavy noise and the masses of people. Anyway, I received my press badge and headed back to my friends.

We visited hall after hall and I must say, each hall looked more impressive than its predecessor!
There was so much to see, so much eye candy! People dressed as their favourite game character, booth babes, exclusive footage, actual gameplay, previews, autograph signings and more.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 'fast pass', which gave me immediate access to some exclusive behind closed door footage of games like The Division, Rayman: Legends, The Crew, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell: Black List. I'm sorry I couldn't record any of that, but filming and taking photos were strictly forbidden! Alright, I respect that. But the thing is, I can't reveal any details either! But what I saw was good, really good!

Of course, when you're at the Gamescom, you want some goodies! Too bad we had to find out that nearly everything had been given away in the first hour and a half. Want to see my Gamescom 2013 loot? Take a look:

Still pretty awesome, isn't it?

Anyway, we checked out as much as possible, but we realized that one day wouldn't be enough to see everything. The Köln Messe is huge. We even got lost at one point.
There were a lot of food/drink stands and toilets everywhere and the entire area was wheelchair friendly! Also some merchandising stores selling for instance the Fallout Pip-boy shirt you see in the image above.
They even handed out free Coca-Cola Zero without Caffeine and we received a Gamescom/Minecraft themed bottle of water when we left the Messe.
Overall, I can conclude that Gamescom is THE place to be when it comes to anything involved in games, gadget, entertainment and technology!

I recommend Gamescom to anyone. I am 100% sure to return here again next year. Perhaps we'll even meet!

Gamescom grown bigger than E3?

Of course, we all know the biggest game event in the world: The E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which annualy takes place in Los Angeles, USA.
The Gamescom has always been Europe's biggest, but it looks like it's growing in size pretty fast and more and more producers, developers and promotors are targeting the European market, abandoning their American (home)base. This could mean that Gamescom could eventually turn out to be world's biggest gaming, gadget and entertainment expo. Who knows.. Time will tell!

A Lightning cosplayer wanted to take a photo with a Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Miqo'te (Stephanie Tripp)!

Who am I to not take a photo with Stephanie also?! Seriously, she's amazing.

That's all for the moment. I'll be back soon!

E3 is typically taken a gander at as the head gaming industry occasion of the year, yet Games is much better than E3. Those accountable for Games say that not just is the occasion immense as of now BestAssignment Service it might get much bigger.
