Silent Hill Collection Preview(PS2)

Written by igcompany on Monday, 14 June 2010 14:08.

Game Information

Konami is releasing all three PlayStation 2 Silent Hill games as part of a cut-price Limited Edition box set. Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill 4: The Room will be re-launched to coincide with the Hollywood film starring Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, The Dark) and directed by Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf). If you?ve yet to brave the horrors that lie beyond the fog in Silent Hill, there has never been a better time.

Each game is linked to the mysterious town of Silent Hill, a mist-covered and deserted place where misshapen creatures lurk in the shadows and abandoned buildings. It was first visited in the PSOne title of the same name in 1999, before the three sequels made the leap to PlayStation 2 and added larger play areas and more grotesque imagery.

All of Konami?s Silent Hill games are famed for their potent mix of puzzle-solving, exploration and jump-out-of-your-skin combat elements. Beautifully-realised and haunting cinematic cut scenes reveal new twists in the plot as the mystery of Silent Hill is developed.

In Silent Hill 2, James Sunderland's life is shattered when his young wife Mary suffers a tragic death. Three years later, a mysterious letter arrives from Mary, beckoning him to return to their sanctuary of memories, the dark realm of Silent Hill.

Silent Hill 3 begins with a young girl called Heather innocently shopping in a sprawling mall, only to find herself transported to Silent Hill for reasons linked to her childhood. The gradual transformation of the shopping mall into the rotting locations of the town is eerily conveyed.

Silent Hill 4: The Room is the most claustrophobic entry to the series. A young man called Henry Townshend finds himself trapped in his apartment, unable to contact anyone outside. A large portal has appeared in his bathroom that leads him to Silent Hill and a terrifying plot that could see the town's inhuman denizens invading our dimension. As the town's evil seeps through the portal, Townshend?s apartment starts to decay.

  • Experience the three PS2 adventures that inspired the Hollywood film
  • This classic trilogy of survival horror games together for the first time
  • Keep your calm and solve puzzles while being stalked by mutants
  • Watch in horror as your home is decayed by evil before your very eyes

Game Information

Fans of Konami's pioneering series of horror-themed adventures should be quaking in your boots. Not just because the contents of this innovative UMD are so diabolically chilling, but because they're so damned exciting and exclusive.

Since its debut in 1999, Silent Hill has grown to become much more than a gripping series of videogames for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. More harrowing tales related to the games can be? well, let's say 'savoured' in the form of comic books penned by Scott Ciencin, with illustrations by Steve Perkins and Alex Shibao. This year Hollywood is bringing the events of Silent Hill to the big screen with Sean Bean and Radha Mitchell taking leading roles, and Christophe Gans at the helm as Director.

It seems about time that Konami celebrate all things Silent Hill, past and present, and the ideal format has arrived in the form of UMD. The Silent Hill Experience is an interactive collection of exclusive Silent Hill curios, with a behind-the-scenes look at the movie, a brand new interactive comic plus a selection of 20 pieces from the soundtracks of all four games, especially selected by their composer Akira Yamaoka.

Everything in The Silent Hill Experience is accessed by means of an intuitive 3D interface. In the movie section, director Christophe Gans talks through the process of adapting Silent Hill for the cinema audience. There is also a trailer for the movie. A special treat is in store for fans of the comic books, with updated versions of Scott Ciencin's original Dying Inside chapters, plus the brand new story that incorporates animated panels and interactive transitions between them.

Our exclusive interview with music composer Akira Yamaoka will be a huge treat for anyone who appreciates his haunting melodies. Yamaoka has selected 20 pieces that he thinks best describe the events in Silent Hill, and gives reasons for their inclusion on this landmark UMD. Lastly, The Silent Hill Experience includes the intro movies in high quality definition for all four of the games.

Metal Gear Acid 2 Preview(PSP)

Written by igcompany on Monday, 14 June 2010 14:03.

Game Information

Metal Gear Ac!d has been massively enhanced in this follow-up to last year's strategy-oriented PSP side-story. The team has revamped the visuals to be brighter and more clearly defined on the impressive PSP screen, but coolest of all is that the game comes with a 'Solid Eye' 3D Viewer - a device that attaches to your PSP activating 3D special effects. This, friends, is the world of Metal Gear brought to life as never before! By using the Solid Eye viewer, bonus videos can be observed in 3D, plus images that have been imported from Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence via USB.

Although the gameplay remains based on the card system, there are new 'move' modes in MGA 2 that allow you to control Snake directly. Commands can also be issued real-time now, making for a faster turn of events requiring you to think on your feet against the pressure of the clock. Cards still govern the majority of Snake's movement and combat, however, and the range of possibilities has more than doubled from the last game from 200 to a colossal 500! New cards have been introduced, among them Linkage Cards that grant bonuses when combined, and Trap Cards that generate context-sensitive attacks. Your strategic options are further expanded due to each card being upgradeable to become more powerful.

When you've been playing MGA 2 for a while, you'll no doubt have created a huge stack of great cards in your own personalised deck. If you really want to put your deck to the test, you can link up with a friend via Wi-Fi and compete head-to-head.

If any or all of the above seems daunting, don't worry! Konami has incorporated a new Tutorial Mode that details the fascinating ins and outs of Metal Gear Ac!d gameplay. Konami wouldn't want anyone to miss out on this amazing new Metal Gear experience.

  • A brand new adventure starring the extraordinary Solid Snake
  • Hugely expanded sequel to the innovative PSP original mission
  • Introduces more cards, enhanced visuals, and intuitive control
  • Immerse yourself in the game using the 'Solid Eye' 3D viewing system
  • Links up with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for PlayStation 2

Game Information

Spread over three discs, featuring an advanced version of the original MGS3, a completely new online mode, the original two MSX Metal Gear games so you can see where it all started and a host of other options, this is simply a must have title.

Disc one holds the massively enhanced version of Hideo Kojima's acclaimed Snake Eater title. The familiar 'Camouflage Index' where Snake adapts his look to blend into the surroundings and the Close Quarters Combat fighting system both remain, but new to Subsistence however is a 3D camera feature. This allows players to view the action from virtually any angle they like, a technique that Kojima Productions will also be using in the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 for PS3. A demo theatre is also included on the disc where players can watch any of the game's fantastic cut-scenes.

The second disc takes the Metal Gear experience to a whole new level. The addition of the full online mode is the biggest feature, answering the requests of countless Metal Gear fans. Using the PS2's Network Adapter, up to eight players can compete online for the first time ever in a MG game. Online modes include 'Sneaking Missions', 'Capture Missions', 'Rescue Missions', 'Death Matches' and 'Team Death Matches', which will allow participants to battle against each other in real-time environments. New locations have also been created, including a Lost Forest, Killhouse and Ghost Factory.

A 'Duel Mode' enabling players to play through the timeless boss fights one after another is a new addition, while a 'Spoof theatre' shows the lighter side to the game with a series of amusing movies - including the return of Raiden! This disc also contains perfect replications of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 games from 1987!

MGS: Digital Graphic Novel Preview(PSP)

Written by igcompany on Monday, 14 June 2010 13:58.

Game Information

An explosive combination of Hideo Kojima's videogame genius and that of a leading artist/writer partnership within world class comic books has resulted in this: the Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel. If you're a big fan of this classic PlayStation game (and who isn't?!) you're in for a huge treat.

The Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel is based on IDW Publications' 12-part MGS comic book series written by Kris Oprisko and illustrated by Ashley Wood. As one of his first projects for newly-formed Kojima Productions studio, Hideo Kojima has taken all the stories and represented them as though they were fragments of Solid Snake's memory. By thoroughly exploring past events, users of The Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel can plunder all the scenes of the MGS story to uncover relationships between the people, places and items.

Every frame of the MGS comic books has been specially adapted for presentation on PSP, with animation, sound effects and of course rousing MGS music that bring it all to life. Each chapter is presented in its original running order, so if you prefer you can read through for entertainment purposes only. However the real goldmine is Mental Search mode, whereby viewers can closely examine each frame for points of interest? imagining that you are Solid Snake casting his mind's eye over every detail.

By scanning in all directions, and zooming into or away from the images, important details eventually become apparent. Once observed, people or objects of significance can be scanned in to form part of a library comprising of 100s of key references. These scanned images are then linked together in Memory Building mode, providing a virtual memory map for Solid Snake's, and indeed your, future reference.

Everything you ever wanted to know about the events of Shadow Moses is to be found locked inside the Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel. Not only is this a must for any self-respecting MGS fanatic, Kojima Productions' unique multimedia UMB pioneers a new frontier in interactive digital entertainment. As with every project Kojima-san has touched, we present the MGS DGN as a genuine work of art not to be missed.

  • Specially created interactive MGS chapter designed only for PSP
  • Based on the Metal Gear Solid graphic novel transformed into 3D
  • Zoom in and out from the images then capture favourite scenes
  • Captured scenes can be saved then stored among a library of 100s
  • Unprecedented source of info on the legendary Metal Gear Solid series
